Raised by his mom in a modest working class neighborhood, Chris was taught that achieving the American Dream started with faith, a good education and a lot of hard work. Those values have stuck with Chris his whole life.
After graduating from Colonial High School in Orlando, Chris earned his Bachelor’s degree from The University of Florida. It was in college that others began to recognize Chris’s leadership skills. |
Encouraged to run by campus leaders who recognized his abilities and character, Chris became the youngest Student Body President of the University of Florid in over 50 years. After graduation, Chris went to work as a manger for Proctor & Gamble and later with another Fortune 50 company, Johnson & Johnson. Years later, Chris would take the lessons and values learned working for some of America’s oldest and most trusted companies, combined them with an MBA earned from Duke University, and started his own real estate investment business. Today, Dorworth Property Group has grown into a multimillion dollar company. The Orlando Business Journal recognized Chris’s hard work and success b naming him one of the Top 40 under 40.
When it came to marriage, Chris often joked with his buddies about their plans to remain bachelors. But his world was quickly turned upside down when the young bachelor met and fell in love with the former Elizabeth Dusinberre at a college football game. Only two years out of college, Chris popped the question. He told his friends and family that he had found the “prettiest Gator” in Florida.
With a desire to be near family and to raise their children in a community that embraced the same values they wanted to teach their children, Chris and Elizabeth chose Seminole County. They bought their first home in Altamonte Springs and later relocated to Lake Mary. They are the loving and proud parents to two children: Madison, age 7, and Chris Jr., 4 and are members of Orangewood Presbyterian Church. Chris is also a board member of the Safe Harbor Crisis Pregnancy Center.
Never on to sit on the sidelines, Chris has been a tireless worker when it comes to promoting the ideals and values of the Republican Party. His years of volunteer service led to Chris being elected President of the Young Republicans, and then being asked to serve as Seminole County Chairman of the Bush/Cheney 2004 Reelection campaign. Having earned the reputation as a dependable conservative, Governor Jeb Bush appointed Chris to Seminole Community College’s Board of Trustees. Chris was later reappointed by Governor Charlie Crist. In 2006, the voters of Seminole County elected Chris to the Soil & Water Conservation District, where he served as Chairman and promoted a balanced approach to protecting our water supply and private property rights.
When Representative David Mealor announced he would be resigning his seat in the legislature, many community leaders urged Chris to run by offering their support.
With years of proven community leadership, Chris earned the trust and support of the voters in District 34. After being sworn in, Chris wasn’t about to sit on his laurels; he immediately began to roll up his sleeves and got to work. In his first session in the legislature Chris wasted little time. Along with being named to the Committees on Utilities & Telecommunications, Healthy Seniors, and State Affairs and the Jobs and Entrepreneurship Council, Chris also sponsored five bills that were signed into law by Governor Crist, among them a bill to increase penalties for those who commit certain crimes against children in their care. Chris remains committed to enacting real change in Tallahassee that will hold the line on spending, fix our property insurance crisis, make our neighborhoods safer and improve our schools.
